Beware supermarket thieves
Supermarket shoppers are being warned by Sussex Police to be on the alert for thieves after a number of incidents in Brighton & Hove.
There has been a spate of thefts during which shoppers have been watched whilst entering their PIN numbers when paying for shopping and have then had their purses and wallets stolen as they leave a variety of stores across the county.
Sussex Police said suspects then withdraw large amounts of cash from nearby cash machines before the victims become aware that they no longer have their credit and debit cards.
Two men, not necessarily working alone, are believed to have stolen nearly £20,000 since November last year. Supermarkets targeted include Waitrose in Hove and Asda in Brighton. Other areas include Lewes, Worthing, Haywards Heath and Chichester.
