Woman murdered in Fiveways

An investigation into the murder of a 46 year old woman in Sandgate Road near Fiveways was prompted when the alleged murderer tried to turn himself in at John Street police station at 6 a.m. on Thursday morning. But the station was closed so he had to resort to calling the police on his mobile phone.

The murdered woman has been identified as Jillian Howell [pictured] who worked as a payroll officer at Brighton University. The man, David Browning in his fifties from Seaford who also worked in the same department, has been arrested and will appear before Brighton Magistrates on Monday 30 October.
