Praise for security and the licensed trade from Sussex Police
Sussex Police have praised businesses working alongside the BCRP for helping a successful operation during the recent Brighton & Hove Albion vs Crystal Palace match on Monday night 8 January.
2000 tickets were allocated to away supporters and it was anticipated that more fans would pile into the city centre as the FA cup match was being shown live on TV.
Due to historic tensions between both sets of supporters this event was flagged as a high-risk fixture and venues were advised to increase the security presence in the run up to the event.
The evening ended with a 2-1 result in favour of Brighton & Hove Albion and only 6 arrests were made. There was very little disorder on the night and security and police worked extremely well together to curb any signs of disorder.
A good example of how partnership working helps reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
