Bottle attack teen walks free from court
One of the pair responsible for a vicious attack on a Korean student in North Street, Brighton [pictured] walked free from court yesterday after successfully blaming his friend for starting the attack.
Bradley Garrett, who was 15 at the time of the assault, smashed a bottle into Korean student Yehsung Kim’s face in October 2017 leaving him with injuries that required £2,000 of dental treatment. But Garrett was spared going to jail instead receiving a two year suspended sentence despite admitting attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm.
His partner in the assault - Louis Barrett - was jailed for 20 months after admitting racist harassment, and a racist common assault. He was already serving a suspended sentence for another assault at the time.
Garret’s age at the time of the incident was cited by Judge Stephen Mooney as a mitigating circumstance in addition to Louis Barrett being the one responsible for starting the incident.
