Failure to address the most common crime

Fraud is a third of all reported crime in England &
Wales but a tiny handful of police officers are devoted to addressing it.

Despite it representing 66% of all crime just 5% of all
police officers across 43 forces are dedicated to investigating reported fraud
cases.

In 2018 there were 3.8 million incidents of fraud but as few
as one in 50 fraud reports lead to a prosecution.

Victims of fraud are generally told to report the incident
to Action Fraud which is overseen by the City of London Police but outsourced
to an American company Concentrix from a call centre in Scotland.

The Home Office has said it is reviewing policing of serious
organised crime and creating a national cybercrime force although the date of
its inception is not yet known.
