Jamie Whitworth curfewed after incident in Tesco
On 12 November last year the 21-year-old abused the security guard at the Tesco store in Jubilee Street after the was asked to leave because he was smoking inside the store. He then spat at a customer who was trying to help and, after chipping a tooth in the ensuing melee, he spat blood and phlegm at police who came to arrest him.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday he admitted two assaults and using threatening words or behaviour likely to cause alarm or distress. It was also revealed that he had eleven previous convictions for 36 different offences.
The magistrate said the offences were serious enough for a community order to include nine months of alcohol treatment and five extra rehabilitation sessions as a punishment from an earlier conviction. He has also been put under curfew for the next six weeks from 7.30pm to 6am every day.
