Hove Gin Tub loses licence
The Gin Tub Cocktail Bar in Church Street has lost its alcohol licence because high trace levels of cocaine and other Class A drugs were found on the premises.
The first drug test was carried out in the toilets of the premises in February last year and an action plan was agreed between the licensees and Sussex Police. Another test in April showed that the situation had worsened and the final straw was a test in September. The tests demonstrated that a bulk amount of cocaine had been in the premises at some point before the tests were carried out.
The Gin Tub was allowed to trade over Christmas and New Year during a 21 day period of grace and is allowed to lodge an appeal.
