Women lose trust in police

A YouGov poll of 1,700 adults released on today suggests that almost half of the women questioned have lost faith in the police after the Sarah Everard murder.

Some 47% of women and 40% of men said their trust had declined as a result of the killing. The poll was commissioned by the End Violence Against Women Coalition. It further found that 76% of women said that the culture of policing must change in relation to violence against women.

Also 10% of women said they would be less likely to report a sexual assault to the police.
