BID renewed for another 5 years
The Brighton Business Improvement District [BID] - trading as Brilliant Brighton - was successfully renewed until June 2026 at a ballot of business owners that closed yesterday.
In a testament to the success of the BID, which was first established in 2006, 82.5% of those voting were in favour of it continuing to provide a variety of services to the business community in the BID area. These include Christmas lights, on-street ambassadors working 364 days a year, dressing the city for summer with bunting and hanging baskets and, a new service to be introduced this BID term, street cleaning and graffiti removal. Over £2.2m of private sector money will be raised for BID projects over the next five years, all of them directly enhancing the public realm in the city centre.
The BID also works closely with the BCRP and all BID levy payers will be entitled to access to the DISC intelligence platform giving up-to-date information about offenders operating in the city.
The new BID will start on July 1st and will continue seamlessly from the existing BID which expires on 30th June. The BCRP congratulates BID Chief Executive Gavin Stewart and Media Officer Shelley Welti for renewing the BID at the most challenging time in its 15 year history.
