Crime falls by over 60% at The Level

Crime and anti-social behaviour has decreased dramatically at one of the city's major parks after the introduction of a police hub.

The hub, which opened in April, is being used by Sussex Police to “increase their visible presence” at The Level. The force said its hub has been a success so far, with a 62 per cent fall in reported crimes between March and April.

The hub is situated by the fountains in the park and is open for people to visit and speak with officers who will be there every day during the summer.

As well as aiming to deter crime in the area, police say they also want to be able to answer queries and concerns people have and “continue to build a positive relationship” with young people.

The park has historically faced issues of criminal damage, anti-social behaviour and drug activity.
