The Level gets new CCTV and lighting.
In an effort to tackle ongoing vandalism and anti-social behaviour, cameras have been installed on six-metre high posts which mean the whole of The Level is now under surveillance allowing the council enforcement teams to respond to anti-social behaviour with immediate effect.
The new cameras give a 360 degree view of the park and they have been designed to provide "multidirectional video surveillance" with a zoom and pan function.
To complement the cameras, the city council has installed additional street lighting to improve visibility and safety at night and try to deter graffiti artists and taggers.
Much of the signage around the park cannot have graffiti removed because of the type of paint used so it has to be replaced, adding to the burden on the public purse.
