Murderer out on licence caught
Convicted murderer George Browne, who was on the run, has been caught after a major manhunt.
He killed a 71-year-old woman at her Dudley council flat in 1998 and was sentenced to life behind bars with a 20-year minimum tariff, but on 13 June police said he was on the run and thought to be in Brighton. He was released on licence in 2018.
The 53-year-old, originally from Ipswich, Suffolk, was wanted on emergency recall to prison for not complying with the terms of his licence.
Sussex Police confirmed this afternoon that Browne was arrested in Brighton and is now back in custody.
