Police appeal for witnesses

A 17 year-old boy was taken to hospital after being assaulted by a man in Brighton city centre at about 16:00 on 02 January.

The teenager was walking near St Peter’s Church when he was approached at a zebra crossing by a man he didn’t know. As the boy crossed the road, the man assaulted him. The attacker is described as being 1.6m tall, in his mid-20s of stocky build and of an Arab or mixed ethnic background with a black beard. He was wearing a black jacket and a beanie hat with a logo.

The boy was looked after by library staff from St Peter’s House Library in Richmond Terrace and later taken to hospital where he was treated for a serious injury before being discharged.

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses and relevant information following the incident, which took place at about 4pm on Tuesday, January 2.

Anyone with relevant CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage is also urged to report it to Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 932 of 02/01.
