Wednesday 12 November – Outreach, Licensing & Partnership in Action

Halfway through Safer Business Action Week 2025, Brighton & Hove’s focus turns to what truly drives safety in our city partnership in action.

Across the UK, police, Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRPs), and local authorities are using SaBA Week to demonstrate how collaboration can reduce harm and strengthen confidence. Here in Brighton, that collaboration is woven into daily life. It’s people working together — sharing intelligence, following up on reports, and stepping in where it matters most.

Our approach remains firmly human-centred: meet people where they are, listen first, and act together.

Working With Businesses

This morning, PCSOs and the BCRP team are visiting stores along London Road, providing hands-on support to businesses that need help with their crime reports and follow-ups. These visits help close the loop, making sure every report leads to action, and that businesses know they are not facing these challenges alone.

Tackling Illegal Activity

We’re also working closely with Trading Standards, following up on intelligence shared through our partnership network. This joint work targets illegal operations and activity that threaten legitimate businesses and local communities, ensuring Brighton remains a fair, safe place to trade.

Youth Outreach & Early Intervention

Later in the day, our team will join partners from the Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) for outreach in the city centre, continuing our shared focus on early intervention and youth engagement. These efforts help identify and support young people who may be at risk of harm or exploitation, reducing the likelihood of future offending and creating safer outcomes for everyone.

Licensee Meeting

The day concludes with the Quarterly Licensee Meeting, led by Kylie Wroe, bringing together venue managers, police licensing, and community partners to discuss vulnerability, predatory behaviour, and preparing for the festive season. These conversations help ensure Brighton’s nightlife continues to lead by example, safe, inclusive, and community-minded.

“Safety grows through relationships — by reaching out, listening, and working together across every part of the community.”
Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership

From retail to outreach, from enforcement to early intervention, today reflects what makes Brighton’s safety model unique: a partnership powered by people.

Together, we’re building a city that listens, acts, and looks out for one another.
