Behind the Scenes: Keeping Brighton’s Night Time Economy Safe

At the Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP), we work closely with local venues, Sussex Police, and frontline teams every weekend to help keep Brighton’s night-time economy safe, informed, and connected.

Every month, our members receive a detailed intelligence briefing highlighting key patterns, incident trends, and practical safety guidance based on live data and real-time reporting from across the city.

What do our members get access to?

  • Monthly breakdowns of crime and safeguarding incidents across the city

  • Targeted insights into emerging issues like phone thefts, predatory behaviour, and anti-social behaviour

  • Safety alerts and trend analysis to help venues prepare for busy periods

  • Recognition of brilliant work by security teams and frontline staff

  • Actionable tips, tools, and free training to support staff wellbeing and customer safety

  • Access to our secure DISC reporting system and intelligence network

From identifying organised crime groups to helping safeguard vulnerable individuals, our network shares real-time alerts and builds a collective response to emerging risks.

This month’s briefing covered:
1. A rise in organised phone thefts and how to spot suspicious tactics
2. Reports of predatory behaviour and how venues are stepping up to challenge it
3. Peak risk hours and how staffing can help reduce incidents
4. Positive interventions from security staff and the Night Safety Marshals
5. A reminder that every report – even the small stuff – helps build a safer picture

"Every shift, every alert, every small decision you make helps shape the kind of night-time economy we all want to work in — and go out in." - Kylie Wroe, NightSafe Manager
