We recently met with local charity Stay Up Late to explore how Brighton’s night-time economy can be more welcoming for people with learning disabilities. From safety concerns to support worker shift patterns, we heard first-hand about the barriers that still exist — and the small, meaningful steps venues can take to change that. Stay Up Late, which began with punk band Heavy Load and now runs the brilliant Gig Buddies project, champions the right for everyone to enjoy a full social life. Man charged with rape and sexual assaults in Brighton

A man has been charged with the rape of a woman on Brighton Beach, close to the pier, in the early hours of Thursday 1 May. The suspect, from Brighton, appeared in court on Saturday (3 May) and has been remanded in custody.
