Armed robbery attempt thwarted

A man armed with a knife tried to rob an amusement arcade in London Road.

The offender entered the Admiral Amusement Arcade on Friday at about 19:00 demanding cash and threatening an employee with the knife. But he took fright and fled on a motorbike when two more members of staff appeared.

No one was hurt in the incident and police are appealing for witnesses. The knifeman was white of slim build with blond hair and thin eyebrows. He is estimated to be in his early 20s and is about 1.78m tall.
