Brilliant Brighton Ambassadors help secure arrest of an armed robber

Ambassadors employed by the Brighton Business Improvement District [BID] which trades as Brilliant Brighton helped to secure the arrest of a man who is alleged to have committed an armed robbery this morning.

At 9.05am (Wednesday 6 December) there was a report of an attempted armed robbery at the Post Office on St James's Street and an armed robbery at 9.40am at Dyke Road News.

Police Officers were in contact with the BID Ambassadors at approximately 9.48am and showed them a copy of the CCTV image they had of the male, who in both instances had demanded money from staff at gunpoint. The male was sighted by one of the BID Ambassadors shortly afterwards and police were informed over the BCRP radio. The male was then arrested at 10.20am by armed police.

The 26 year old man, identified as Nicholas Randall of Gibbon Road in Newhaven, was found with an imitation firearm, a hammer and a lock knife upon his arrest.

Another fantastic example of partnership working in the city.
