Burglar jailed after stealing from Brighton cafe

Stephen Fidler, 43, has been jailed for six months after breaking into Trading Post Coffee Roasters and stealing a charity tin and till drawer in the early hours of the morning on 10 October.

Fidler has previous convictions for similar offences dating back to 2015.

His accomplice in the offence from October, Mark Kaid, 39, was given a suspended 10 week sentence and ordered to carry out a drug rehabilitation programme.

Both men were ordered to pay £559 each in compensation after pleading guilty.

Brighton Prevention Team Inspector Karen Osborn, said: “We are working hard with our partners and communities in Brighton & Hove to prevent and detect burglary, and deal positively with any offenders to ensure they do not continue to hurt our residents and businesses.

“The swift conclusion of this case demonstrates our commitment to tackling this issue, to protect our communities and keep them from harm.”
