Police beach hut on the seafront.

A beach hut called ‘The Lookout’ has opened on Brighton’s lower esplanade near the fishing museum and it will staffed by Sussex Police officers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

It will also be available for use by the city council, the seafront team, beach patrol, RNLI lifeboat volunteers and the fire and rescue service.

Brighton Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Nick May said it was an “innovative” way to prevent problems and issues on the busy beach saying: “It provides a high visibility presence and is open in time for the Fresher’s Week events this month.
