Double stabbing in broad daylight

An incident in Western Road, Brighton at about 13:53 on Boxing Day saw two people stabbed close to the junction with Spring Street.

The suspect, who had absconded prior to the arrival of Sussex Police officers, was located and detained in Eaton Road, Hove, a short time later.

Police said the 28-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in public, and was detained for assessment under the Mental Health Act.

Police said a 45-year-old man from Brighton was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. A 38-year-old man from Hove was also taken to the same hospital, and has since been
discharged.
