The BCRPs 12 crime prevention days of Christmas -day 11

We cannot believe it is already day 11 of our 12 days of crime prevention Christmas! For our penultimate day, we wanted to share some of the work we do with our local Neighborhood Policing Teams.

Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT) are considered by many to be the corner stone of policing. In Brighton & Hove we have we have three NPTs that cover Central Brighton, East Brighton and Hove. Each of these teams work alongside the local community to tackle the issues and priorities which occur within those communities.

The BCRP work closely with NPT to bring local community concerns to their attention that may not have been formally reported via DISC and/ or Sussex Police 101. We work together to share intelligence to address and look at those individuals causing the most harm to the business community in Central, Hove and East.

Weekly intelligence meetings are held between the BCRP Intelligence Manager, NPT colleagues and key partners in the city such as the BID Ambassadors, Churchill Square and CGL. This partnership working allows emerging issues to be raised immediately with key players in the city to ensure quick responses.

Within this capacity sits the current Business Crime Plan which is used to robustly disrupt those causing the most harm through high value shop liftings in the city. Through this plan, days of action are utilised to help with the disruption of the behaviour in the city but also supports current prosecutions in the gathering of outstanding evidence to secure further arrests and court orders such as Community Protection Warnings (CPW), Community Protection Notice’s(CPNs) and Community Behaviour Orders (CBOs).

NPT officers based at John Street police station are tasked with carrying BCRP radios when actively patrolling the city centre to engage with the BCRP membership to proactively reduce crime and ASB together.
