The BCRPs 12 crime prevention days of Christmas - day 2

For day 2 of our 12 crime prevention days of Christmas we want to give a shout-out to our Mobile Support Units operating across the city.

Mobile Support Units (MSUs) are rapid response vehicles offering to respond to incidents in venues by the quick deployment of security personnel. They were developed locally after the introduction of the 24-hour licensing laws in 2005. They are intended to offer a round the clock solution to businesses who needed a security presence but do not want to employ on site security staff. Additionally they also provide a rapid extra resource for door supervisors who require 'back up' addressing issues and incidents on the premises.

In a climate of decreasing police budgets, there are mounting pressures for the security industry to play a greater part in keeping the night time economy safe.

At the heart of the BCRP, is ‘partnership’ and without question, it is this partnership working that helps keep not only our service going, but leads to a significant reduction in crime and disorder in Brighton and Hove. Our partnership is made up of our members, and our local partner agencies. We firmly believe that MSUs are a vital piece of this puzzle to help reduce crime and disorder across the city and we are proud of the work that they do for our members, their customers and the community as a whole.

In addition to the core services listed on the 'Membership' page, the Brighton & Hove Business Crime Reduction Partnership administers a series of special projects to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the city. Building on our strong foundations we continually strive to innovate to ensure we are offering the best possible service to our members and stakeholders.

The BCRP Mobile Support Unit Accreditation is a quality assurance scheme to assist businesses seeking to hire a security company offering a vehicle-based mobile support function.

Our rigorous annual inspections ensure that all accredited mobile support units meet or exceed agreed quality standards.

Our current MSU Accreditation Security companies are: Consec Risk Management, Future Guarding Solutions Ltd, Pagoda Security Ltd and Resolve Security Service Ltd. We will be opening the door for new applications from January 2022.

For a full list of security companies who are members to our scheme, please see our security directory.
