The BCRPs 12 crime prevention days of Christmas - day 4
It's day 4 of our campaign and today we'd like to bring up a really important service that operates along the seafront on Friday and Saturday nights: the Resolve Beach Patrol.
Meet Beach Patrol
The Resolve Beach Patrol was set up by Resolve Security Solutions Ltd in 2015. The project was created to help protect vulnerable people and to save lives by preventing people from entering the water at night.
The project also prevents anti-social behaviour and acts a visual deterrent to stop possible crime from occurring along the sea front.
The Resolve Beach Patrol operates a quad bike between the two piers every Friday and Saturday night and comes equipped with a first aid kit, defibrillator, thermal blankets and a NightSafe radio. Operatives will also carry a body-worn camera which will capture any issues they may come across.
The project works closely with Sussex Police, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution coastguards and the seafront clubs and door supervisors to ensure that any vulnerable people that leave their premises are kept safe, and do not venture down to the lower part of the beach where they may get into issues with the water.
The team are linked up on the NightSafe radio and so if you hear of people heading down to the sea for a swim please alert the Beach Patrol so they can keep try and prevent them from doing so.
