The BCRPs 12 crime prevention days of Christmas - day 5
Day five already! Today we're talking about Safe Space, which is a really important service operating on Friday and Saturday nights to help support the night time economy.
Meet Safe Space
Safe Space is a project run by Change Grow Live (CGL) which operates out of St Paul’s Church every Friday and Saturday night. The project supports anyone who has become intoxicated, distressed, or injured during their night out. They can help with basic first aid, water and even help charge people’s phones.
Safe Space offer physical and emotional support where needed and can signpost people to other services that might be required, like drug and alcohol or sexual health support.
Safe Space is open from 11.30pm until 4am every Friday and Saturday night. They have access to the NightSafe radio if you need to call them about someone who might need help. Due to the limitations of the project, they aren’t able to leave the church to collect individuals who need help. If you can, please walk the person needing help to the church and Safe Space staff will take it from there. If it is difficult for the person to walk to the service with you, you might be able to get a wheelchair from Safe Space to assist them.
