Nightclub Door staff praised

Thirty year old plumber Abdenour Ben Ali, who was detained by door staff on the lower level in September eighteen months ago, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for raping an 18 year old woman on Brighton beach.

Ben Ali befriended the girl in a nearby nightclub before raping her. Nearby door staff spotted what was happening and he was detained at 04:30 on 07 September 2019.

The four door staff were commended in court at the end of the trial by Judge Janet Waddicor for their swift action in restraining Ben Ali and calling the police.

Detective constable Tom Perry of the Brighton and Hove Safeguarding Investigations Unit said “Fortunately, alert door staff took action and now Ben Ali, who had taken advantage of her vulnerability, has faced justice."
