Illegal Steyning rave

Sussex Police arrested 23 people on suspicion of offences including drink and/or drug-driving, possession of drugs and theft, after an illegal rave in Steyning.

The rave, which happened on Saturday night/Sunday morning, saw hundreds of apparently abandoned and badly parked cars cause chaos on the roads around the village as 2,000 revellers came from far and wide.

Police and other emergency services were also met with hostility at the site with one police officer being assaulted and a second officer injured in a collision between a police car and a vehicle leaving the event. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink/drugs.
