Operation Makesafe
A new initiative has been adopted by Sussex Police. The operation raises awareness of child sexual exploitation [CSE] in the hotel and leisure industry.
The initiative focuses on making sure that people working in these sectors are aware of the early warning signs of CSE and know how to report concerns to the police.
As part of the initiative Sussex Police have an information pack that will provide businesses with relevant information on CSE to share with their staff.
The pack, which can be downloaded from the Sussex Police website, contains:
A guidance leaflet
where business can find further details around the aims of Operation Makesafe
what CSE is and how it affects young people and vulnerable adults
what businesses need to know about CSE including an indicators checklist, and
how businesses can support young people who may be being exploited
A postcard highlighting the signs of child sexual exploitation
A poster which outlines what child sexual exploitation is
