New reality cop series set in Brighton
Night Coppers, which will present the reality of policing Brighton & Hove’s night-time economy, starts at 21:00 this evening [12 July] on Channel 4.
The series will feature tales of nightclub bottlings, attempted suicides and sexual assaults – all presented through live filming, CCTV records and police bodycam footage.
Sarah Spencer, executive producer for Blast Films, said: "We set out to really get into the hearts and minds of the Brighton response officers at a time when confidence in the police is at an all-time low.
“We wanted this to be a character-led, visually distinctive, visceral series that captures what it’s really like to be policing the streets of Brighton at night, eschewing master interviews and commentary in favour of a more immersive approach."
The creators of the eight-part series said viewers are in for “one hell of a ride.”
