Tory PM hopeful to target crime

Tom Tugendhat has promised to crack down on gangs and cybercrime if he is successful in his bid to become the next Prime Minister of the UK.

He is pledging to clamp down on county lines by introducing a reactive policing approach to target the king-pins of the illegal drug trade and deliver longer sentences when they are caught.

He also wants to give the National Crime Agency [NCA] more powers including assuming control of counter terrorism - currently the responsibility of the Met. In addition he has promised to declare cyber-crime a national security threat and place the NCA on a ‘war-footing’ with more resources going into combating online fraud by a dedicated team within the NCA.
