Arrests at Pride

41 arrests were made in the city over Pride weekend mainly for drug-related offences, as well as public order offences involving drunk people in the night-time economy, but there were no major incidents. Last year saw 37 arrests.

A Sussex Police spokesman said there were no major incidents this year and “robust measures” including drug amnesty bins, searches and sniffer dogs were in place.

Attendance at this year’s Pride was down 50% due to train cancellations in and out of the city due to a ban on an overtime for train drivers. In addition, Storm Antoni created truly awful weather conditions on Saturday.
