Stronger Together for a Safer Brighton
Last week we were out in the community as part of our early intervention plan — yesterday was a joint effort between BCRP, Trust For Developing Communities (TDC), Brighton and Hove Police, Longhill School, the Violence Reduction Partnership, Churchill Square, the Brilliant Brighton Ambassadors and our wider community partners. We listened to businesses in the central area to ensure their voices are heard and their concerns supported.
Longhill school joined us in these conversations and walk around the community to show their support in harm reduction following working with BCRP under the education early intervention plan that you can read about here
We also had some amazing moments engaging with young people on the TDC bus — offering a safe space, support, and real conversations.
And we’re especially proud to be working alongside McDonalds, who are going above and beyond to support local youth. They generously provided over 500 free food vouchers to the TDC bus which their going to use to reward young people for positive engagement and as fun prizes in games and activities.
Even our very own Field Officer, the Exploitation and violence reduction manager for Safer Communities and the BCRP's Intelligence Manager joined the fun with a game of Spin the Wheel! With engaging questions around harm, substance misuse and some challenges.
This kind of collaboration shows the real impact of community-led, early intervention work — focused on prevention, partnership, and positivity.
