The Difference Our Members Make, Every Day

Partnership in action across Brighton & Hove

In 2025, members of the Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership worked alongside Sussex Police to help locate and arrest wanted individuals faster and more effectively than ever before.

This is what partnership looks like in practice. Through trusted relationships built over time, secure intelligence sharing, and the vigilance of frontline businesses, local intelligence turned into real-world action.

And it’s making a measurable difference. During 2025:

  • 524 wanted individuals were securely shared with BCRP members as part of an established joint process with Sussex Police

  • This was nearly double the previous year’s total, reflecting growing confidence in how effectively local intelligence is used

As a direct result of partnership working:

  • 268 individuals (51%) were arrested following sightings or intelligence linked to businesses and frontline staff

  • A further 85 arrests (16%) were made by officers using the same shared intelligence

That means more than two-thirds of those arrests were directly supported by shared local intelligence.

Many of these individuals were not unknown or transient offenders. They were people already present in local spaces, encountered by retail teams, venue managers, security officers, and night-time economy staff.

By sharing intelligence with those most likely to see them, and who understand the local context, arrests happened sooner, repeat victimisation was reduced, and harm was disrupted earlier. This is the power of a connected network.

The success rates speak for themselves:

  • 73.5% success rate for wanted warrants

  • Nearly 50% of prison recalls located and arrested

Senior officers within Sussex Police have described this as one of the most effective wanted-person processes they’ve seen and have encouraged other divisions to adopt the same model.

This doesn’t happen by accident. It works because of:

  • Long-standing trust between businesses and policing

  • Dedicated officers committed to partnership working

  • Members who take the time to submit sightings, share CCTV, and report concerns

  • A system that listens, responds, and acts proportionately

It works because local people care about their local spaces.
