£5,000 worth of damage at Brighton Police Station
Twenty nine year old Aaron Barrett appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 12 October following an incident in Brighton’s John Street Police Station on Sunday 11 October.
He admitted causing more than £5,000 worth of damage to the reception of the Police Station after breaking three plate glass windows, pulling down ceiling tiles and damaging plasterboard walls and cabling. He also admitted assaulting a police officer.
It appears that Barrett refused to leave the reception area of the police station after becoming aggressive with staff. He then climbed onto a wide ledge above the entrance doors and spent three hours damaging the fabric of the building while officers tried to persuade him to come down.
He has been released on conditional bail to appear at Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on 9 November.
