Partnership Success - Violent Offenders Stopped and Arrested
This morning showed exactly why our network works- quick thinking, clear communication and joined-up action stopped two offenders in their tracks before they could leave the city.
At 09:50 am this morning, a theft and assault took place in a member store. The store team immediately reported the incident over the BCRP radio, giving clear descriptions of the offenders and their direction of travel.
From there, the value of our partnership came into full force:
Coordinated Store Support: Churchill Square uploaded images of the males on to DISC's Instant Messaging chat group and staff at Marks & Spencer's (M&S) heard the radio call from the original store and spotted the suspects entering the train station
Rapid Field Response: Our Field Officer, Nick, picked up the trail within minutes thanks to M&S
Transport Safety Intervention: Nick liaised with the Rail Enforcement Officers (new members to the BCRP scheme) via the radio network and they were able to determine which train the suspects had boarded
Seamless Coordination: Nick contacted the police with all the details of the incident, whilst Rail Enforcement Officers identified the suspects on the train and held them at the scene until police arrived.
The result: £200 worth of stolen goods recovered and two males were arrested - all within an hour of the incident.
When we talk about partnership working - this is exactly what we mean. This is the value of BCRP membership; a network where every call, every description, and every update matters. When we work together like this, we don't just respond to crime - we stop offenders in their tracks.
