Today is all about people power, the conversations, confidence, and connections that make Brighton’s safety network work.

This week marks the start of Safer Business Action (SaBA) Week 2025, a national initiative led by the National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) bringing together police, Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRPs), Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), and local businesses to tackle business and retail crime through partnership.

Over the past week, Brighton’s night-time economy was targeted by a series of burglaries and attempted break-ins, with offenders forcing entry to premises and seeking alcohol and cash drawers. In total, around 7–8 incidents were reported.

Retail crime prevention isn’t just about tech. Last week in Brighton proved it — two offenders stopped within 40 minutes thanks to people, partnerships, and boots on the ground. No software could have done the same.

Yesterday showed the true strength of Brighton’s partnership approach – seven individuals wanted by police were arrested in a single day, the highest number we’ve seen to date.

Yesterday was another reminder of how powerful our community is when we work together. Businesses, safety teams, and police joined forces to keep Brighton safer — and the results speak for themselves.
